Yes, I've been away for a while, and yes, I promised to keep this blog relatively free of political content. But as I wrote on my other blog, I'm desperately seeking younger independent voters to interview for my next book, We the Purple: Faith, Politics, and the Independent Voter. "Relatively free of political content," by the way, means I get to ask this one question, prompted by last week's televised faith forum hosted by Jim Wallis: If I ever become so demented that I vote for a candidate based on his or her views on evolution, would someone out there please put me out of my misery?

- I'm an author, an editor, and an independent voter who was independent when independent wasn't cool. I was also purple when purple wasn't cool, but that's another story. The current story is that independent voters like me are finally making our voices heard, and make no mistake about it--our elected officials and wannabe elected officials are the ones who are listening most intently. It's a good time to be independent.

I saw that forum hosted by Jim Wallis/Sojourners. It was very thought provoking. Bravo to Sojourners!
I would love to interview for this. I was raised in the typical Republican-loving home and while I love the ideals of the Republicans, I usually vote a more balanced ticket with a Republican lean. I actually voted for a Democratic Senator not too long ago... Don't tell my parents.
